Prestopod launches Podcasting Service for Radio Stations
Free beta service introduces all-in-one solution for podcast creation, hosting, and distribution
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) June 30, 2005 -- Prestopod, a new podcasting service for radio stations, debuted today in beta. Prestopods all-in-one offering, which will help community and independent radio stations reach a wider audience of music lovers, is designed to be simple, fast and cost-effective. Anyone with an existing online radio program can use prestopod to make podcasts of programs available to listenersquickly, simply, and, during the beta period, for free. Prestopod will create and host podcasts of the programs, list them in podcast directories, and report usage statistics. Listeners can subscribe to programs with a single click, and automatically download each new episode to listen to at their convenience.
"Station managers are busy enough running their radio stations, and they just don't have the time to research and implement new technologies. Prestopod takes care of the technology, and lets the station managers do what they do best: run stations," said Luke Knowland, Chief Technologist at prestopod.
The community of podcast listeners, estimated by the Pew Internet & American Life Project (April 2005) as over 6 million, is expected to grow dramatically after the launch today of Apples iTunes 4.9, which includes support for podcasts. Existing iTunes users and the estimated 22 million owners of iPods and other portable MP3 players are likely to try podcasts, which allow users to automatically download favorite radio programs and other audio files to be stored and listened to on demand.
For a limited time, radio show producers will be able to try prestopod for free. A simple set up process at www.prestopod.com will register beta users to have podcasts of their radio programs automatically created. Prestopod will host the podcasts, market them in podcast directories, and offer usage statistics to the show producers.

iTunes racks up one million podcast subscriptions
1 July 2005 - Podcasters are hailing the success of the new podcast support in iTunes, after more than one million podcasts subscriptions were recorded in its first two days.
August Trometer, developer of iPodderX, likened Apple to a high street coffee shop chain.
'Podcasting is like cappuccino,' he said. 'Gourmet coffee was around for a long time, but it took Starbucks to put it on the map. Apple is like the Starbucks of podcasting and advertisers will take us more seriously now.'
Will Lewis, management consultant for KCRW, said that Apple has achieved something that no-one else could have accomplished.
'Our servers have been swamped with a stratospheric increase in traffic,' he said. 'In fact, downloads have increased tenfold as a result of the iTunes 4.9 launch.'
iTunes enables users to find and subscribe to podcasts automatically downloading new episodes and uploading them to an iPod or iPod mini.

(PRWEB) July 4, 2005 -- Podfeed.net, one of the top podcast websites in the world, continues to innovate with The Podcast Chronicles, a new behind-the-scenes peak at one of the site"s most popular podcast shows, The Best #### Tech Show, Period.
The Podcast Chronicles is similar to reality shows like Project Greenlight in that it shows the inner working of a production, but by being online, The Podcast Chronicles is able to become interactive. Fans of the show can interact with its stars, a first for this medium.
The Podcast Chronicles is not a reality show. It is a journal chronicling the creation of a new podcast by five broadcasting rookies. Every week a new thirty minute show is released to the podcast community and a brief article describing their experiences is posted on the website.
Fans can read about these experiences and discuss them in an open forum with the show"s stars and other fans. This creates an unparalleled opportunity for the fans and stars to unite. The hosts of the show can even discuss what was talked about in the forum on their next show. This makes their podcast truly interactive.
"This is a huge leap forward for the world of podcasts," says Drew Olanoff, creator of The Best #### Tech Show, Period. "People who have never heard of podcasts before are learning what they are and what it takes to make their own via these chronicles. It brings podcasts even more into the mainstream, and I expect to see a lot more things like this in the near future."
The founders of Podfeed.net, echo Olanoff"s enthusiasm, saying, "Podfeed.net is extremely excited to present such a unique offering to the podcasting community. The Podcast Chronicles gives an inside look into the creation of a brand new podcast, and the trials and tribulations that the hosts encounter along the way. We look forward to watching this show, and the podcast medium, grow."
The Best #### Tech Show, Period"s first three shows had over 10,000 listeners, and their behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to produce a podcast gets serious website traffic. Podfeed.net continues to invent innovative ways to give a voice to average people.
